Liz Schwartz Named Director of Value Methodology

JACKSONVILLE, FL – Benesch is excited to announce Liz Schwartz, PE, PTOE, VMA as our new Director of Value Methodology. Liz joined Benesch’s Pennsylvania Division shortly after graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. She later transferred to our Jacksonville office to grow our Florida design practice. Liz has over 15 years of experience in civil engineering, specializing in value engineering, traffic studies, and signal design.

As a certified Value Methodology Associate (VMA), Liz has provided workshop facilitation and traffic engineering expertise on multiple VE teams serving DOTs across the US, including New Mexico, Florida, Michigan, Minnesota and Georgia. Most recently, she provided VE services and conducted a workshop in support of the final design of the New Mexico 213 Corridor Improvements project, resulting in a maximum potential construction cost avoidance of $52 million.

In addition to being a certified VMA, Liz is a licensed Professional Engineer in Florida and Pennsylvania and holds the Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification. She is committed to advancing the practice of Value Methodology both and has presented at the 2024 SAVE International Value Summit where she shared new facilitation techniques and tools. She is also involved with the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Institute of Transportation Engineers, and serves on the ASTM technical subcommittee for Value Engineering.

As Benesch’s Director of Value Methodology, Liz will lead the continued growth of our national value methodology service line. Her leadership will be critical to the success of our VE teams, which bring together technical experts from across the country to help our clients identify opportunities to improve project value, manage rising costs, and develop innovative solutions.
